the nights here have been dipping down iinto the upper 40s, and the birds are starting to congregate and make their way south. judging from the talk amongst the farmers, this winter may be a good(bad?) one. squirrel season starts here on the first, and deer season starts october first.this is my favorite time of the year and i'm getting excited, small game, deer, salmon and trout running!what to do first!?!! early bear opens in a few weeks and i'll be headed to the adirondacks, hopefully to take my first bruin with a handgun.yep, it's time to start getting ready because fall is nipping at my rear end and ole man winter is right behind him!

Re: summer has about ended here
we thought we were in for it out here, too, until the temps went back up last week. now, we have overnight temps in the mid-70's again. weather's freakin' nuts. small game starts out here in mid sept. can't wait! deer season is still up in the air for me. between not having enough home time and some expected family crisises ( think i spelled that right), don't know if i'll have the time.
on a side note, finally got married on aug. 17th. after 16 years, and all the @)_+ that's come down the pike, we're still together. guess we'll have a pretty strong marriage. never had a problem between us, and she wanted my dad to give her away, ( her dad died 8 years ago ), and mine was diagnosed with terminal cancer last month, we figured we better get it done. dad's probably got 2 months left, and it really made him happy.

Re: summer has about ended here
i'll acccept condolences on the marriage, as well . as far as my dad's concerned, we can all thank obamacare. i took him to a dr's. appt. on friday. the dr. said he was treatable. we had to wait for medicare authorization. the following tuesday, we were told that medicare wouldn't cover it. they said he was too old. i don't think 86 is too old. other than his arthittis, he's in pretty good shape, or was, at least. the cancer is overtaking his bladder to the point that he's urinating every 5-15 minutes. ( blood, not urine ). a veteran of WWII and korea, a decorated police officer and chief of 30 years. this is how our government treats it's elderly?? oh, wait, i forgot, we're not kennedy's. don't forget, we're all going to be in the same boat, someday. and, unless things change drastically in this country, we will be up the creek as well. comforting thought, isn't it?? all we can really hope for is to go quickly, and not have to endure a long drawn out end, knowing that it didn't have to be that way. thanks obama and all you Cock Struts that voted for the" affordable " healthcare act without even knowing what was in it. i hope you all die a horrible death.

Re: summer has about ended here
sorry for the rant. and please excuse the foul language. won't happen again. i just get so irate when i think about what is happening to my father, and for no good reason.
on the bright side, we did manage to get quite a bit of fishing in, this summer. dad even caught the biggest fish of his life, a 37" northern pike. he was like a kid at christmas! too bad there won't be any more fishing trips.
again, sorry about the rant. later gators.
