before the rain gets here at least.heading down to the river for some brown trout. i always bring the souped up 2240 pistol with me as it winds through a tree farm that is chock full of red squirrels(and rabbits when in season) hoping to get some nice fish for the smoker Smile

You KNOW how much I'm hate'n right now don't you? Ugh! I waaannnaaa gooooo!

I'm reminded of when my Dad used to take out with some of his closest and family on hunts and fishing trips that a 10 year old boy would be too mcuh to handle with the adult folk at that time. Oh, my, Griz, I was SO beside myself! I'd grab my Daisy BB Gun and go out an write my name in the thin bark of the water oaks with shot after shot as far away as I could.

I wanted to be a good shot, see. I wanted to impress those that would think that I couldn't shoot!

    Laughing

Wow. Amazing what little things can trigger memories SO deep in one's past, eh?

Maybe I'm not hate'n you so much out of pure jelousy right baout now since I've remembered those tresured memories!

Naw, I tried, really I did, Griz. Can't do it. I'm still hate'n ya!

    lol!

after the trout is smoked, the skin falls right off and the meat lifts right off the bones. then you cool it off, add chopped onion and celery. mayo or miracle whip, and serve on your favorite bread lightly toasted. tuna can't even come close to it! Wink

I guess if you must put up with the cold as much as you snow birds have to, you might as well get something as a consolation prize . . .

    I'd rather visit, personally!

longjohns and electric socks. longjohns don't usually come off til late april. by then, they're pretty ripe Laughing .

stickers came for the boat, last week. still haven't got my fishing liscence. want to get that postal shoot started, first, then on to other pursuits.

by the way, nice catch griz:D . you got any brook trout by you? brookies are my favorite. some of my fondest memories of my childhood are going fishing with my father. i still get him out as often as time and weather permit.( not nearly as much as i'd like, though ).

why is it that sometimes the stickys work and sometimes they don't???? that really bugs the hell out of me Evil or Very Mad !

Try some alcohol on the surface with time to dry. Get's what oils are there----oil and adheasives don't mix---jut my two cents.

That is if you are talking about the stickers and not a bait?

longhunter, lots of brookies here, almost every stream has them in it. usually they are under 10-12 inches though, more like 8 inches mostly. once in a while you get a big one. brookies are "breakfast trout" we take a pan with us and fry them up for breakfast!lol

that's what my dad and i used to do. we always had a little butter and a couple of shallots along. nothing better.

dad can't walk the streams anymore, so, we take my boat out on the river. at least he can still get out.

stickys, not stickers. or emoticons, if you're a geek.

    Geek: Guilty as charged.

But I'm still lost! Little help for the bewildered?

I never got to take my Dad out just before he went. That was one of our "things". The only son and two younger sisters, it was our "reprieve" if not some of the funnest times I can ever remember and not just with him because he was my Dad. Enjoy it while you can!
