New Corsair .308 rifle Empty New Corsair .308 rifle

Post by ORairgunner Tue Aug 23, 2011 4:02 pm

Got a new .308 Corsair last week. Had adventures with the air valve stem but finally got it sealed up. I had to cut a few coils off of the stock hammer spring because the air blast when shooting was fouling up the chrony. everything works well now, 3800 fill shooting 45gr round ball, 757, 771, 810, 846, 884, 921, 1000, 1058, 1075, 1067, 1048, 1001, 924, 735. 921 through 924 is 85 fpe to 115 fpe, back to 85 fpe with 8 shots, not bad. I'll use the fill pressure that matches the 921 shot, but will have to experiment to find it, no gauge on gun. Later last evening, 3350 lbs got me a first shot of 924. So that will be my fill pressure.
May have to get a sizing die as the .310 round ball are really hard to load. Anybody have any experience on what size works the best, I would guess .308 or .309?
    Later, Tom

    How did I miss this?

Must have been sleeping while attempting to navigate the site.

    Ugh.

Sorry, Brother. Better late than never, eh?

So, it's been some time now, how's it working for you? As planned or what?

    . . .or not?

That one is working well, I have a total of three now, 2 .308 and 1 .357. The last two will need hammer spring work as well. Did you see the 707 ultra that sold for $350 yesterday? I missed that one, it lasted two minutes on the American classifieds. Tom

Nah, didn't see it. Haven't been able to watch the AC or any other of late.

Trip after trip to Florida. Gettting darn expensive too.

But what I price eh? Either he just let it go or there was something wrong with it. Too good to be true and when it is that way it usually is. But I wish whom ever bought it good luck with it anyway, for sure.

But, you know, if I'd of had the cash I think I'd of bought that just for parts!

Good luck with the others you've got. Gotta fix a broken stock on my RS---ugh.

New Corsair .308 rifle Empty Leak

Post by ORairgunner Sun Jan 15, 2012 1:08 pm

Is it leaking where the air tube screws onto the action or leaking out the barrel with the bolt closed? Also, is this a new Corsair or used? What does the air valve stem spring look like. As I'm sure you know, this gun does need to be cocked to fill. Tom
