Shoebox F8 Compressor Empty Shoebox F8 Compressor

    Post by rks1949 Sun Feb 17, 2013 1:20 am

I just ordered a shoebox f8 compressor, and a great white tank, from Joe. I went out today and got a Porter Cable pancake 6 gal 150psi compressor to run it with. Now I see post that says it isn't big enough to run the F8 shoebox? Then I see post that say,the same compressor will run 2(regular) shoebox compressors in parallel?Shocked I've got a big compressor in the garage (upright 26gal) but there's no heat out there, and I'm not sure if you can run the shoebox in below freezing temps?confused I'd like to run the setup indoors, downstairs in the family room, where the humidity, and temp are controled. Shoebox F8 Compressor Empty Big enough?

Post by ORairgunner Sun Feb 17, 2013 4:15 am

The pancake compressor should be plenty big enough, just remember the compressor must be oil less. I would run it where the humidity is the lowest. Regards, Tom

Tom is completely right on this.

Yep, it'll run it. And not only that, but it WILL run two at a time!

But read the instructions carefully on the Shoe box. It's SUPPOSED to be 100 psi, not 150. You put too much back pressure on it otherwise.

UNLESS you are running TWO Shoeboxes off one compressor.

    Got us?

Both Tom and I both are big supporters of the Shoebox. Perfect for those guys, (like myself if you read my blogs) that coudn't, at one time, get the bigger thousands dollar tickect compressors. I just got one for 3 grand and it's the industrial type, not the one you get from, like say, AOA, Air Guns OF Arozona which is a prett darn good unit now, I'll grant ou that. But I just couldn't pass up this deal for 3K for something that should be costing 6K. Plus I got to buy it on time with payments. Life and God were really good to me about that. I've already sold one of my Shoeboxes (I had the two shoebox set up) to someone like me (disabled) not able to hand pump.

So, yea, my air gun brother. You are find with that one as long as it is oil-less. I have the same exact one! (but in pancack shape.)

Just be sure to drain it each time and a few times while pumping something like the Air Hog at 88 CF (cubic feet) and give it a rest now and then to cool off.

Let us know if we can help you further!

Thanks for honoring us with your questions!

The only thing I've got so far is the 6 gal pancake compressor. Sent the money off to Joe Sat. for a great white tank, and a F8 shoe box compressor. So I don't know how long it will take for the tank, and shoe box to arrive? I noticed that they claim to run the F8 with a input pressure of 125psi. Dose that load the shoe box too much?confused I can see where 100 psi would take a lot of load off the first stage. I've got a lot to learn about tanks, and the shoe box!Laughing Ron

The best LEGAL advice I can give you wthout Tom Kaye coming after me with a gun is to tell you to visit http://shoeboxcompressor.com (yea, that's a click able link) and to also visit the other sites on THIS site taken straight from THAT site. If you look at the very top of the page and you'll see "Shoebox Compressor" It's a link to another place in our forum that will have all sorts of stuff at a glance you might want to check over before you go asking Tom a bunch of questons. Also, too, when you go to the Shoebox site, please read over the forums before you ask a question that has already been asked. We are not so tight on it here but most other forums don't like redundant questions on our forums. But, like I said, we aren't that tight on it here and are more forgiving. Tom's okay at it too but if you want a direct response from him *the guy that actually invented the darn thing* then you'd probably better show him you are willing to do your home work and not be spoon fed (last phrase is something no site likes but, like I said, we are designed for that here so no big, okay?).

I have my own ideas about what pressure you can use. But you can also set that compressor to do just 100 PSI if you wish. You'll have to read, (yea, more reading) about it and learn the valves that alow you to do this.

If at any time I've given this guy bad info or you thing, personally, I've given you bad info, let me know so I can learn from it and correct it!
