ordered a new airgun today
the purest oldest form of airgun! i got a cold steel .625 big bore blow gun with a bunch of extra darts. i used to kill quite a bit of small game with one back in the early 80s. i got the 5ft take down model for my back pack. a little blast from the past, cant wait to try her out!

What size of group is possible at say 15 or 20 yards? Enjoy your new purchase, it's all about the toys for me.

i used to be able to put a dart clean through a rabbits head at that distance. they are silent, deadly, and very easy to "shoot" well

Re: ordered a new airgun today
as a bonus, the "new age" of darts are pretty advanced. instead of a spike or just sharpened wire, there are several different styles of broadhead and razorhead type darts that intensify killing power for small game

Re: ordered a new airgun today
as far as target accuracy, i could hit a ping pong ball darn near every time from 20 yds in my basement, so they work really well for small game hunting. i got this one as an addition to my survival/bug out bag. ordering a 5ft one piece "proffessional" model also. tha tubing is twice as thick but it doesnt break down. comes with a muzzle ferrule so you can use as a hiking staff. also the mouth piece makes a great rifle rest! as a side note, just dont look up if you are shooting game high in the trees with it!

How do you aim blow guns, do you keep both eyes open and get use to how far the end of the muzzle should below the sight plane? I was looking at blow guns myself a couple of weeks ago.

both eyes open for me. thats how i shoot everything, rifle, shotgun, pistol, bow. i guess you would call technique with the blowgun instinctive shooting. it's very easy to learn and get good quickly with one

I know you have to be licensed to serve Lion Fish for much of the same reasons you'd want a frog like that but, can you really get one from a pet shop?grizzlyadams wrote:well you can buy poison dart frogs from the pet shop. just worry him a little and wipe a bamboo dart on his back secretions
I'd bet they are DARNED high $!
I'll bet, years from now, Law and Order (Enter the them HERE: Dung-Dung!) will have some special on about how some guy read in an Air Gun / Archery forum of where to get a little frog to worry a bit for some petting with a dart and then killed his wife . . .
Stranger things have happened!
(I'm contacting my lawyer for a rights to the story! )

lol
i'm just into any kind of primitive weapons at all and bought it mostly for fun. i would like to get good enough with it again to hunt bunnies and i dont think you need poison darts for them, especially if you are planning on eating them afterwards! lol. besides they make a broadhead dart for hunting with the 62 cal pipe. it should be great for barn pigeons. the bamboo darts are about a foot long and get in the way of their wings on a body shot so they cant fly away. and the stun darts have a rubber tip at the end and are used for shooing away pests if you dont want to get lethal.

also
most people buy the poison dart frogs as an exotic terrarrium pet because they are astonishingly beautiful to look at and when you have a few of them in a tank, their antics are hilarious to watch.

Re: ordered a new airgun today
the new blow gun is pretty awesome. it's worlds away from the old 38 cal i had as a kid. the darts are 4x heavier and it shoots way faster! i got one of those foam blocks by crosman and at 12 yards(across my kitchen/livingroom)i can literally stack the darts! got three robin hoods already! i must say i'm thoroughly impressed!

Re: ordered a new airgun today
anybody remember those blowdart guns that used slingshot bands to propel a piston for air power? almost bought one. my local gunshop had one on display along with a 1x4 piece of pine. he could put the steel dart through it, up to the "fletching" at 100 feet.
