What model did you get?
I ask because if you got the 4,500 PSI model you'll have to adjust the collar for the kick off switch. Not hard to do at all. Sometimes, when you adjust that collar the end will stick out a little and may strike the cover a little. Mine would. But I have mine set to do just about right on 4,500 and kick off at that point.
The collar is sort of hard to understand in how it works and it is not just that collar that makes it kick off---there is pressure from the cylinder that comes into effect. But for now, until you get a grasp of it, you can run it on or off, up to you.
I personally leave mine off and have a small desk fan blowing on my cylinders. Seems to help. Just common sense to do that to me. Turn the machine off after it has been running for a little while and then touch one of the cylinders: You'll note that it is pretty hot to the touch. After you've done this you'll probably get why a lot of use leave it off. But it WILL run correctly with it off. I just don't leave mine on.
Report back what model you got. Sooner or later you'll want to fine tune your collar to turn the machine off at a specific pressure.

Mine filled exactly to 4500 +- 25 psi on the SCBA gauge. First time luck.

Oh, you won't get out of it. But do know that the collar is where the gig is for that adjustment. It's a machine and all machines need maintenance so one day you'll get to do it. But really, it's *supposed* to do that first time around so I'm not surprised. Tom does good work, brother!
See, I couldn't figure it out. I knocked my head around the manual, sent and email and by the time I sent it I found the little place it tells you how to handle that but couldn't stop the email I'd already sent. Like so many, I jumped the gun. But it's in there, in black and white in the manual! I felt like so small! LOL!
Don't hesitate to ask a question though: There are no not so smart questions even though there will always be someone to act not so smartly when a question is asked [and] we won't let the latter happen here!
