Welcome to
www.airgunsinc.org be4meliz!
An honor to meet you. I must apologize for not catching this sooner. I've recently migrated all my computer stuff to another computer and, well, I guess I'm not getting the new posts like I should. I'll have to look into that.
I'm also known as Squirrel here (my aka and regular member name) and I too use a backyard shooting range but mine is only half of what you have. (insert green with envy HERE)
And hey, you know what? Those Navy, Air force and Marine boys? THEY all could have joined the "ARMY" if they'd tried hard enough! (that always gets a smile from any branch of the services 'round here where all are mostly Airforce and Navy)
Former Commo, radio op, and assorted other communications MOS's, I was the only rated expert marksman with my weapons (M-16, M203, .45) in my unit. I completely understand the "nut" status being armorer. I was Air Assault (mostly support) and combat ready. Most of my time was spent at Ft. Bragg under 20th Eng. Brigade. You'd think that we'd have more that could "shoot straight" but I guess I never did realize what 19/19 vision would do for a tike of 17 at the time---just couldn't understand why others didn't *see it* (pun, pun) the way I did.
Now, blind in one eye and can't hardly see out of the other, your words bring back a flood of memories.
Tell you what I'm going to do, armorer of the Army. Not that many care about Rank here, or, really do but put off like they don't, although it does have it's privileges, (as we both well know) I'm going to bump your rank up to Ranger of the Ranges. Any VET of our Armed Forces, current, past or active, to me, deserves recognition. Personally, I'm a disabled vet so I speak from the heart.
From time to time we will hold drawings and give aways that will have criteria such as number of posts, threads started, etc and rank may be a factor so it is not just bragging rights that a rank status will get you here.
For the memories you bring up for me in your post, your willingness to serve your country and become a "nut for life", as I think we ALL should be required to do for our great nation, you, Sir, are now going to get a Rank Bump to Ranger.
I'll do this for any member/vet that states or proves that he is actually a vet. Be advised to all out there that to say you are a vet and not actually be is something called "stolen valor" and, if done in the public eye is actually a legal office under that same term of "stolen valor". It's a BIG no-no! If you are NOT a vet, do NOT say you are just to get a rank bump---it's an offense to your country and those of use that have served honorably for our nation so that you get the right to post at forums such as The Independent Free Thinking Airgun Forum whereas if you were in, say China, this forum would possibly NOT exist or, if it did, be severely hampered by censorship by Big Brother.
So, glad to meet you, fellow Vet!
The honor is mine and I'd like to thank you for your service with a rank bump--it's not much compared to what I'd like to do but it is what I can give at this time. Cheers! Have one on me!
Check your rank, brother.
